I have made chicken (whole ones) in the crock pot before, but always with it on the bottom and with liquid in the pot. I have never tried this "fauxtisserie" style. I am thinking that this may be our next chicken attempt as the whole family does like rotisserie chicken. Thanks!
I guess the foil balls are just to raise the chicken off the bottom so it won't stew in it's juices. I wonder if you could use other things (like a rack or something else that will fit) so you don't waste foil. I think your chicken looks pretty tasty!
A rack would probably work if you had one the right size. The balls are to keep the chicken from soaking in its grease. But it is fall off the bone. :-)
I cannot wait to share this with my Mom. She has a rotisserie, but it is in a storage unit, out of state. She is always talking about the darn thing. It really did make some delicious chicken. This is really a fantastic idea, and I bet she is going to love it. Thank you.
Wow this looks delicious! I am going to make this for my son who by the way absolutely loves chicken and I know he will love this. Thank you for sharing this yummy recipe.
This is new to me! I have cooked a chicken in the crock but it sat in its own juices and was very greasy. It tasted great, but I think I like this idea if having the chicken sit above the juices. Thanks! I am going to try this.
I love finding new crockpot recipes (I got one for Christmas and have been using it at least 2 times a week)!! The Aluminum is a great way to keep it from being too greasy I have to try that and marinade that you used sounds delicious to both my boyfriend and me. :D I hope to try it soon!
I love it when the chicken looks like that because you know it is good. I like the idea if foil balls in the bottom to keep it from touching the bottom, will have to try that out.
I love the foil balls, I have never done that before but will be tying that tomorrow night
