Do You Need a Daily Break?

Have you signed up for Smiley 360 yet? If you haven't, you should know it's a really fun way to get to try new things. All they ask in return is that you spread the word about the products you try. And if it's a product you really like, you want to tell others about it anyway, right?
So, the latest "mission" I've gotten from Smiley lately is to try out a trivia site called Daily Break that also offers drawings for prizes when you play various trivia games. I know, hard stuff right?
Well, it just so happens that I'm a sucker for trivia games. I just love testing my knowledge and learning new stuff. I'm full of random "useless" knowledge, as my husband jokingly calls it. I'm not saying I spend hours every day on it--maybe once a week or so for a few minutes. But it's a nice little "daily break." :-)

Guess Moo! iPad App Review

I was recently provided access to an app called "Guess Moo" via Tomoson.com. This is a learning app targeted at young children and teaches about common animals and the sounds they make. When the child taps an animal, a short poem featuring that animal pops up.
For example, when the rooster pops up, there is a poem that reads:

Every morning is so much fun.
I shout for joy when I see the sun.

There is also a voice that reads the poem out loud, because in general, the app's target audience doesn't know how to read. However, the words in the poems are simple enough that they make good "sight" words, and it might be helpful for the parent to point to each word as it is being said so the child can make the association.

There is music which you can turn on or off. My daughter likes it on. :-/ It kinda gets on your nerves after a few minutes. And the music is non-stop. It doesn't stop when you push on the animal and it goes to the little poem.
There is also a short quiz you can do. You listen to the animal sound, then choose which of four animals makes that noise. If you're right it says "uh huh" and if you're not it says "uh uh." I think it would be better if it it said "Yes, you're right!" or "No, that's not it." I think it would be easier for kids to understand.
If they get a perfect score on the quiz, they get to play a "bonus" game in which they get t pop balloons floating to the top of the screen. Then there is some victory music.
Other than the somewhat unclear "uh huhs" and "uh uhs" in the quiz, it is a pretty good learning app. I think it has the right amount of animals for young children and is pretty easy to understand. I know my daughter really likes it!

Outburst Energy Bites

As a mom of a toddler and an infant, I am always in need of ways to increase my energy. And, I really, really like chocolate, as I'm sure my regular readers know. ;-) So I was excited when I recently got the opportunity through tomoson.com to try out Outburst Energy Bites.
Outburst Energy Bites are little chocolate candies that contain caffeine. Four candies are equivelent to a cup of coffee. So, you get a pick-me-up and a little sweet tooth satisfaction at the same time. Pretty cool, huh? And it's about 50 calories, so not too horrible. You can suck on them instead of chew them to make them last longer. ;-)

Outburst Engery Bites come in 3 flavors--plain chocolate (brown), chocolate peanut (yellow) and chocolate mint (mint). All flavors I love in general. My favorite flavor here was probably the chocolate peanut.

Do they work? Well, I like to think they work somewhat. I try taking them earlier in the day and I don't feel like I'm in such a "slump" in the afternoon. I'm not bouncing off the walls or anything--boy wouldn't that kind of energy be great--but I feel slightly more energized. Everyone's body will respond differently though. So my experience may not be yours.
If anyone would like to try Outburst Energy Bites, the company is offering my readers a BOGO coupon on the sampler packs. Just put in the coupon code ORDHOUSE at checkout. :-)
Outburst Energy Bites come in small little packages, easy to put in your purse for an afternoon pick-me-up! Just make sure your children don't get ahold of them! As with any caffeine product, these candies are not for children, pregnant women or anyone with caffeiene sensitivities.

Weight Loss Wednesday: Fiber One 90 Calorie Brownies

So, today I'm going to tell you about a high fiber, pretty low calorie snack. You've probably heard about these before, but if you haven't, they are decent.
I'm not gonna lie and tell you these taste as good as the real thing. But when you want another option when the "real thing" isn't one, you might wanna give it a shot.
They are only 90 calories and have 5 grams of fiber. Now, you know I'm all about the fiber, right? Getting enough fiber and drinking enough water can be a great boost to your weight loss, even without a lot of other alterations to your lifestyle.
The 90 Calorie Fiber One brownie now comes in chocolate chip flavor. I think I almost like it better than the regular kind. Although that one is decent too.
Most people don't get enough fiber. Women should aim for about 25 grams a day, men 30-35. While most of your fiber should come from whole foods, I can't hurt to have a little help. And it might as well taste good, right?

Get Unjunked with Unreal Candy

How do you feel about chocolate? Love it? How do you feel about artificial flavoring and high fructose syrup? Not so much, huh? Well, what if you could get chocolate without all the "junk"? Well, now you can, if you try Unreal candy.
I got the chance to try some through BzzAgent. I got a free coupon and a few BOGO's. I decided to get one of each, so I could get the full experience. ;-) Here my collection.

The first flavor I tried was the Unreal 41, which is their version of M&M's. Now, I will tell you right off, these are not quite as sweet as M&M's, as they do have less sugar, as well as more fiber and protein per serving. They would take some getting used to as a replacement. But they aren't bad. These were my hubby's favorite.

What I liked better was the Unreal 54, which is the peanut version. Maybe it was the strong flavor of the peanuts. But I just really liked this combo.

Another one I really like was Unreal 77. Basically peanut butter cups. now, I'm not gonna say I loved these more than Reese's, but they were quite good. Probably a good tie with 54 as my favorite of this bunch.

Finally, there is Unreal 5 and Unreal 8. These are sort of like Milky Way and Snickers, respectively. As with the others, I liked the peanut-ty version best. The nougat was rather stiff to me, and not as creamy as the standard candy bars. Normally I love Milky Way bars, but this I didn't care for so much. I did like the Unreal 8 pretty well, though.

So, in conclusion, the only way for you to decide if these are really for you is to try one yourself. Like I said earlier, these candy bars have no atrificials, no HFC, no hydrogenated oil, more protein and fiber and less sugar. So they are all natural and over all better for you. Not that you should make a habit of eating these, but for an occassional treat.
If you are used to the regular candy bars, these would probably take some getting used to. Also, they are a little more expensive. Almost double what you can get the others for at a good price. Also, these are only available at select retailers for now, like Michaels, CVS, Wlagreens, and Kroger.
They probably won't replace my other chocolate, but I'd say they're probably worth a try!

*I received a free sample of this product via BzzAgent. Any opinions expressed are my own.*
