It's summertime! And that means BBQ chicken sandwiches! This is a really good recipe that I just had to share! Looking at the recipe, the ingredients probably aren't something I would have thought to mix together. But once you heat it all up, it was delicious!
I found this recipe here and made some slight modifications. For 3-4 sandwiches you will need:
2 cooked boneless chicken breasts (I just boiled them)
3/4 cup
ketchup
3 tsp brown sugar
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp soy sauce
1 tsp apple cider vinegar (I used 1/2 tsp apple juice and 1/2 tsp white vinegar)
pinch crushed red pepper flakes
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1 TBSP water
Combine all the ingredients except (chicken breast) in a bowl.
Then cut/shred up the cooked chicken breast.
Add the chicken breast to the sauce, put it in a pot and cover. Allow to cook on med-low about 1-1 1/2 hours.
Alternatively, you can put it in a crockpot and cook for a few hours. About 10 minutes before serving, toast the insides of a few hamburger buns in a lightly buttered skillet.
Put desired amount of chicken on a bun and served with green beans, potato salad, baked beans, or whatever you like with your BBQ!
